CofC Sweeps Chattanooga

Down 7-2 in Game 1, College of Charleston head coach Sherry Dunbar called a timeout to simply tell the team to settle down, and settle down the Cougars did. No. 1 seeded Charleston swept its way into the Southern Conference Volleyball Tournament championship match, where the Cougars will go for their third straight SoCon championship.
Charleston (25-7) defeated the No. 5 Chattanooga Lady Mocs 3-0 (30-20, 30-21, 30-28) in the semifinal match. The Cougars will play No. 7 UNC Greensboro match on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Deanna Patrick paced the Cougars with 15 kills, followed by Annie Uthe with nine. Marie Dobrenz anchored the defense with 23 digs. Lindsey Kane dished out 39 assists.
Chattanooga (13-20) was led by Leslee Ball with 11 kills. Lara Newberry came up with nine digs, and Michaela Huff had 23 assists.
