
Cross Country/Track and Field Sign Trio

Three student-athletes have signed with the College of Charleston, it was announced by cross country/track and field head coach Amy Schuckert.
Brad Meyer and Trevor Sprague join the Cougar cross country team, and Saskia Kalmeijer will join the track and field program as a triple and long jumper, as well as contributing in relay events.
"We are thrilled to welcome Brad, Trevor and Saskia to the Cougar team," said Schuckert. "All three are tremendous athletes, well-accomplished individuals, and most importantly, great people."
Myer, who attended Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, placed 25th in the 2006 Ohio Cross Country State Championship, after placing eighth at the regional meet. His personal records include a time of 9:47 in the 3200m and 15:48 in the 5K race.
Sprague's personal records include 4:34 in the 1600m, 9:54 in the 3200m and 16:17 in the 5K race. He attended high school at St. Pius X in Dunwoody, Ga., where he placed fourth in the Region 6 AAAA 1600m race and third in the Region 6 AAAA 3200m event. Sprague also placed fifth in the 2005 Alexander/Asics Cross Country Invitational and 10th in the Georgia State Cross Country Championships this season. His high school team was the Class AAAA runners-up in 2005 and finished fourth this season.
Kalmeijer, the 2003 Belgium triple jump champion and a native of Belgium, hails from Marietta, Ga., where she attends Pope High School. She was runner-up in the triple jump event at the 2006 Georgia State Championships.
Kalmeijer lettered in track and field and won the new student-athlete award in 2006. She has personal best of 18-0 in the long jump and 38-4 in the triple jump, and was a two-time runner-up at the 2006 DeKalb International Prep Classic in 2006.
"They will make an immediate impact on our program," added Schuckert.
