
Cross Country Travels to Virginia for NCAA Southeast Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. – The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Charlottesville, Va. to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional meet Friday, November 14. The women will race a 6k at 10:00 a.m. and the men are to follow running their first 10k of the season at 11:00 a.m.

There are 51 teams competing in the race and four from the CAA.
The last time out, Charleston competed in the CAA Championships where the women placed fifth of 12 teams while the men placed sixth of 11 teams. Nine Cougars ran personal bests in their respective events.
On the women's side, Savannah Stoutt crossed the line first with a new Charleston top 10 time in the 6k of 21:48.80. The junior placed in the top 25 and scored 21 points to aid the Cougars 141 total.
Jeorgi Gavalas placed 31st with a time of 21:57.00 to set a new personal record while Cayden Crismon trailed, coming in 32nd, also with a personal best time of 21:58.50.
The Charleston women defeated Hampton and Campbell in the conference, both of which will be racing Friday.
At the CAA Championships, Declan Byrne and Finn Myatt ran personal bests while Byrne set a new Charleston all-time 8k record of 24:26.80. Myatt's time landed him in the all-time top 10 as well with a time of 25:10.20.
The men also defeated Hampton and Campbell in the conference championships ahead of meeting them again Friday.
For the men, Roger Brown, Will Buckley, Declan Byrne, Andrew Catapano, Thomas Flaig, Adrian Miller, and Finn Myatt will be competing. Rob DiMedio will be traveling as an alternate.
For the women, Cayden Crismon, Jeorgi Gavalas, Andie Harding, Bella Hudson, Abby Mogg, Katie O'Toole, and Savannah Stoutt will be competing. Gail Vaikutis will be traveling as an alternate.
