#articleRelated { display: none !important; } The William and Mary's women's tennis team, ranked 20th in the nation, defeated College of Charleston, 7-0, today at the McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va.

The win improves the Tribe's record to 4-1 this season, while the Cougars fall to 1-3.

W&M opened the match by sweeping all three doubles contests and winning the team point. Senior Lingda Yang (Coconut Creek, FL) and rookie Katarina Zoricic (Etobicoke, Ontario) finished first, defeating Maxine Capewell and Ashley Finnegan, 8-2, at No. 2. Senior Megan Muth (Covington, LA) and freshman Lauren Cash (Allendale, NJ) clinched the team point with an 8-4 win in the top match against Chelsea Albertz and Payten Ellington and junior Alex de Guzman (Holmdel, NJ) and freshman Barbara Zidek (Orland Park, IL) finished the sweep with an 8-4 win at No. 3 over Amanda Becker and Jenna Marks.

The Tribe continued to play well in singles, winning all six matches, including five in straight sets. Zoricic, ranked 50th in the nation in singles, started off by defeating Albertz, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2. Cash put the Tribe ahead, 3-0, with a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 and Yang clinched the Tribe's win with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 over Marks. Muth defeated Campbell, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1; Zidek came back to defeat Ellington, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (8) at No. 5; and freshman Emmy Fritz-Krockow (Fairfax, VA) ended the match with a 6-2, 7-6 (1) win at No. 4 over Finnegan.

W&M will return to action later today at 3:00 PM, when the Tribe will host James Madison in the first Colonial Athletic Association match of the season for both teams. Charleston's next match will be on Feb. 8, when the Cougars host Coastal Carolina.
