CofC Women's Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Davidson

The College of Charleston women's team dropped its first Southern Conference match of the year, falling to Davidson, 6-1, this afternoon at the tennis center at Patriots Point in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
The Cougars fall to 9-8 overall and 4-1 in the SoCon, while the Wildcats improve to 12-5 and stay perfect in league play with a 4-0 mark.
Charleston played Davidson close in two of the three doubles matches as the duo of Chelsea Albertz and Payten Ellington fell in a close 8-6 match to Kelsey Linville and Kim Whelan at number one before Maxine Capewell and Ashley Finnegan dropped 8-7 to Lindsey Powel and Michele Fanney at number two. Davidson earned the doubles point, with the sweep.
The closest singles match of the day was at number five singles. Ellington fell in three sets to Meredith Skeeters at number five. The lone Cougar win was at number two where Albertz earned the 6-4, 6-2 win over Fanney. However, Davidson took five of six singles matches to earn the 6-1 overall win.
The College of Charleston is on the road for its next match, traveling to Appalachian State, Saturday, April 1st for a 10:00 AM match. Davidson hosts Boston Monday, March 27th at 1:30
