CofC Runners Split With The Citadel At Dual Meet

College of Charleston and The Citadel cross country teams met in head-to-head competition Friday in The Citadel Dual Meet (5K) at James Island County Park.
"We look good up top, and we're closing the gaps within our pack," said head coach Amy Schuckert. "We just need to continue to close the race strongly."
College of Charleston's Katie Hedley (19:38), Karen Corson (19:50) and Amy Laughlin (19:51) took the top three spots, while The Citadel's Sarah Strickland took the No. 4 spot with a time of 19:58. Charleston's Ashley Arnold posted a time of 20:03 to finish fifth.
CofC finished the race with 17 points, and The Citadel netted 43 points.
On the men's side, The Citadel had a :03 edge as Will Wilson finished with 16:32. The Cougars' Max Gustatitis clocked a 16:35 time for second, followed by Aubrey Darney with 16:50. The Bulldogs claimed the Nos. 4 and 5 spots as Charles Kutz and Matt Homes finished with 16:50 and 16:53, respectively, to round out the top 5.
CofC women boasted a 15-50 win over Charleston Southern, while the men topped Savannah State with a perfect score.
The cross country teams will to travel Rock Hill next weekend to run in the Asics/Winthrop Invitational.
