
Cougars to Compete in CAA Championships

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the CAA Championship races Friday, October 31 in Lakewood, N.J. The women will race a 6k at 10:00 a.m. and the men will race a 8k at 11:00 a.m.
Teams competing for the CAA title are Campbell, Elon, Hampton, Hofstra, Monmouth, North Carolina A&T, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Towson, UNCW, and William & Mary.
Most recently, Charleston men raced an 8k at the Upstate Invitational placing fourth of 22 teams. Crossing the line first for the Cougars was graduate student Declan Byrne with a time of 25:08.3 to score 14 points. Freshman Will Buckley was to follow with a time of 25:28.1 adding 25 points to the team's score. Finn Myatt saw a new personal best time of 25:36.4 to place 39th in the race and score 29 points.
As a team, Charleston scored 132 points. Fellow CAA member, Campbell, placed ninth as a team with 224 points. Charleston will meet the Camels again Friday morning.
The women will race their second 6k of the 2025 season Friday morning.
Leading up to CAAs, the women have raced one 6k at the Fire Tower Project race in Boone, N.C. Four Cougars set new personal records including leading Cougar Abby Mogg with a time of 22:10.6.
The last time out, the women's team placed second of 23 teams in the 5k at the Upstate Invitational. Savannah Stoutt placed in the top ten for The College with a personal best time of 18:06.1. Trailing Stoutt in 12th was Jeorgi Gavalas, who also found a personal best of 18:09.9 for the 5k. Senior Cayden Crismon raced a personal best as well with a time of 18:12.7 in the 5k to place 13th and score 11 points.
As a team, the women scored 63 points. The Charleston women defeated CAA opponent Campbell who placed sixth with 182 points.
Roger Brown, Will Buckley, Declan Byrne, Andrew Catapano, Rob DiMedio, Thomas Flaig, Riley Hugues, Adrian Miller, Evan Mitchell, and Finn Myatt will compete on the men's side while Cayden Crismon, Jeorgi Gavalas, Andie Harding, Caroline Himstreet, Bella Hudson, Abby Mogg, Katie O'Toole, Cara Grace Phillips, Savannah Stoutt, and Gail Vaikutis will represent the Cougars in the women's race.
