
CofC Cross Country Cruises To Charleston Dual Meet Wins

Becky Stewart, Amy Laughlin and Karen Corson took the top three spots in the women's event, while Brad Meyer finished second and Luke Nelson fourth in the men's events as the College of Charleston's men's and women's cross country teams cruised to wins in the Charleston Dual Meet at James Island County Park on Friday.
Charleston's women beat The Citadel (17-45), Charleston Southern (15-50) and Georgia Southern (15-50). Charleston's men beat The Citadel (22-33), South Carolina State (15-42), Charleston Southern (19-36) and Savannah State (15-43).
Stewart ran the 5K event in a time of 18:49, while Lauglin and Corson posted marks of 19:14 and 19:17 each, respectively. The Cougars had eight runners finish in the top 10. Katie Hedley (19:44) was fifth, Sarah Massenburg (19:55) was sixth, Erin Stoddard (20:03) was seventh, Wells Trompeter (20:07) was ninth and Cara Browning placed 10th with a time of 20:14.
Heather Clark (21:28) was 18th, while Meghan Kirwan ran a time of 23:35 (27th).
Meyer (16:25) finished only behind Benedict's Emmanuel Kirwa who ran a time of 16:20. Nelson recorded a time of 16:42. Trevor Sprague (16:53) placed seventh, Tim Faugl (16:54) was eighth, J.C. Koziel (17:16) was 16th and Josh Shinoff placed 39th with a time of 20:22 for the Cougars.
Both teams run in the Fordham Ram Invitational in New York on Saturday, September 15th.
