
CofC women?s tennis defeats Coastal, PC in doubleheader

Mt. Pleasant, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's tennis team opened its 2008 season with 7-0 wins over Coastal Carolina and Presbyterian at the Patriots Point Tennis Center this afternoon.
Senior Chelsea Albertz led the Cougars in number one singles to a 2-0 start for the season. The Lady Chanticleers and the Blue Hose both fall to 0-1
Albertz, a senior from Tequesta, Fla., finished 6-3, 1-6 and 6-4 over Coastal's Lexi Bolesky 6-0 and 6-2 over Brittany Lanford of PC. Link Leskosky finished 7-5 in two sets over Coastal's Amy Pazahanick in number two singles. Sophomore Laura Borza defeated Kim Webb in three sets 2-6, 7-5 and 1-0. Captain Amanda Becker and Anna Lee Evans won their matches 6-1, 6-1 and 6-3, 6-4 respectively against the Chants.
In doubles action versus CCU, Bolesky and Pazahanic defeated Leskosky and Borza 8-6. Holly Dowse and Keely Mulligan finished 8-3 over Maria Cambero and Tina Petkova, while Albertz and Kinsey Casey defeated Sofie Ahlberg and Webb 9-7.
In the day's second match against the Blue Hose, Borza finished 6-1 and 6-0 over Abby Diminich in number two singles. Becker, Mulligan and Casey finished 6-1 and 6-0, 6-3 and 6-2 and 6-0, 6-3 respectively. Freshman Julia Howard defeated Casey Bookout 6-1 and 6-0.
The doubles teams of Dowse/Mulligan, Kinsey/Casey and Emily Dyar and Sarah Schwarz defeated the Blue Hose 8-5, 8-1 and 8-4.
