
Cougars Win Ninth Straight Match; Down ECU, 4-2

The College of Charleston women's tennis team won its ninth straight match with a 4-2 win over East Carolina in college tennis action at the College of Charleston Tennis Center at Patriots Point on Tuesday. The teams did not play doubles competition.
The Cougars, who play at Wofford in Southern Conference action on Friday at 2:30, improved to 18-2 overall. East Carolina fell to 13-5. The Cougars have won 15 of their last 16 matches overall.
For Charleston, Anna Lee Evans won her 12th straight match earning a 6-1, 6-2 win over Luiza Borges at No. 5 singles. Amanda Becker cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Tamara Sachs at No. 6 singles. Laura Borza beat Varinia Soler 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles and Holly Dowse rallied for a 7-6, 6-1 win over Brooke Walter at No. 4.
