
CofC to Host Defending Southern Conference Champion Chattanooga Monday

The College of Charleston women's basketball team will host defending 2008 Southern Conference champion Chattanooga Monday, Jan. 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Carolina First Arena.
Both teams are looking to rebound after losses this past Saturday. The Cougars (8-4, 2-3) fell to Samford, 64-58, for their first loss at the new Carolina First Arena. The Mocs (9-6, 5-1) had a 27-game Southern Conference win streak snapped with a 66-65 loss at Georgia Southern.
Chattanooga owns a 20-5 record over Charleston and has won the last 15 in a row. The Cougars last won Dec. 31, 2001 with a 62-59 overtime decision at the John Kresse Arena. The Mocs took the 68-53 win last season in the semifinals of the Southern Conference tournament held at the North Charleston Coliseum.
Leading Charleston is Brooke Kotcella (Anderson, S.C.) with 12.1 points per game. Tonia Gerty (Port Orange, Fla.) follows with 11.6 a game. Nikki Williams (North, S.C.) paces the Cougars in rebounds with 7.5 a game. Sarah Moye (Alpharetta, Ga.) follows closely with 7.4.
Chattanooga is led by Shanara Hollinquest with her 16.1 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. Two other Mocs average in double-figures with Jenaya Wade-Fray at 11.1 a game and Erin Ogan with 10.3.
