
CofC Track and Field Competes at CCU Shamrock Invitational

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. ? The College of Charleston track and field teams competed in the annual Shamrock Invitational this weekend. The event was hosted by Coastal Carolina University.
In the team's final day of competition today, Alyssa D'Orazio set a school-record in the 800-meters with a time of 2:17.56 to place seventh in the event. In the long jump, Isabel Boersma placed fifth with a 5.03-meter effort, while Saskia Kalmeijer posted a 10.41-meter effort in the triple jump in her return from an injury.
In the 100-meters finals, Ariel Hatcher finished 15th with a time of 12.61 after qualifying for the finals with a school-record time of 12.42 yesterday. In the 400-meter dash, Mary Zolga placed 12th in a time of 58.64, while Kristen Wolfe placed 12th in the 1500-meters in a time of 4:57.52.
Erin Stoddard earned a sixth place finish in the 3,000-meters in a time of 10:21.53, while Becky Stewart also placed in the top ten in the event in eighth with a time of 10:37.65.
On the men's side, Timothy Faugl placed eighth in the 1500-meter run in 4:15.07, while Christian Bailey placed 10th in the event with a time of 4:15.57.
Yesterday in the team's first day of competition, Wolfe set a school record in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:27.80 to finish second, while teammate Grace Loba finished right behind Wolfe in third place in a time of 11:40.83.
On the men's side, Bailey was the day's top finisher, placing sixth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:33.90.
The Cougars return to action on Mar. 27th at the Raleigh Relays.
