CofC (3-4) faces Samford as its first SoCon opponent of the season at 10 a.m. at the Samford Tennis Center. The Bulldogs are 6-2 on the season, including a perfect 5-0 at home. The team boasts a nationally-ranked doubles pair in senior Stephanie Parkison and sophomore Madelie Janse Van Rensburg, who are tied for 54th in the nation, according to the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. The duo are 4-3 in competition and will likely face Charleston's top pair, senior Holly Dowse (Tuncurry, Australia/Forster) and junior Emma Hayman (Wanganui, New Zealand/New Mexico).
Chattanooga hosts Charleston in a 1 p.m. match at the UTC Tennis Center. The Lady Mocs are 1-3 in 2010 with their only win coming on their home turf in the form of an 8-1 victory over North Alabama on Feb. 19. Freshman Jenna Nurik has led the squad as the top seed in both singles and doubles action. She and her doubles partner, sophomore Emily Hangstefer were 8-1 in the fall before slipping to 1-3 this spring.
The Cougars are coming off a 7-0 defeat to No. 38 South Carolina on Feb. 24. The Gamecocks were the fourth nationally-ranked program head coach Angelo Anastopoulo's team has faced this year. Senior Laura Borza (Toronto, Ontario/Mary Ward Secondary) and sophomore Caroline Newman (Greensboro, N.C./Page) picked up the only win at No. 3 doubles, taking down Rita Maisak and Anya Morgina, 8-5.
