
Equestrian Wins Florida State Invitational

The College of Charleston equestrian team used wins in seven classes to take first at the Florida State Invitational held Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Three Y Ranch in Crawfordville, Fla. The Cougars posted 40 points, seven behind second-place Savannah School of Art and Design (SCAD).
Charleston increased its lead in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone Five, Region Three standings to 10 over SCAD with just one show remaining.
Amanda Overholt (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) took first in the Open Fences, while Aly Murphy (Natick, Mass.) won the Novice Fences. Zoe Merritt (Southbury, Conn.) earned the Open Flat win while McKenzie Armour (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) won in the Intermediate Flat.
Taking first in the Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter was Jessica Latham (Conway, S.C.) in section A and Tatiana Calvo (Princeton Junction, NJ) in section B. Rounding out the Cougar effort was Sharon Percival (Charleston, S.C.), who won the Walk/Trot.
Charleston hosts the CofC Invitational March 6 in its final regular-season show.
