Mickael Trintignac named SoCon Men?s Tennis Player of the Week

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Southern Conference has announced that College of Charleston sophomore Mickael Trintignac (Le Cannet, France) has been named men's tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 7 following a stellar performance that included four victories.
It is the seventh time that a College of Charleston player has earned the award since its inception in 2000 and it is the second time that Trintignac has been so recognized in his brief career. That accomplishment makes him the only men's tennis player in Cougars' history to earn the award multiple times. He previously was named Player of the Week on April 8 of last season.
This past week, the native of Le Cannet, France earned four victories as he claimed two singles wins at the No. 2 spot and a pair of decisions in doubles competition from the No. 3 position. Those victories helped key wins over Samford and Atlantic Coast Conference member Boston College.
Against the Bulldogs, he defeated Scott Foster 6-4, 6-2 in singles play and teamed with sophomore John Harden (Atlanta, Ga.) for an 8-2 victory over Joe Hunsicker and Ryan Shidler. Trintignac then posted an impressive 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over 76th ranked Akash Muppidi of Boston College in singles play before pairing with junior Mickael Boyer (Meudon, France) for an 8-2 victory in No. 2 doubles.
Currently, Trintignac has won his past four singles and doubles matches dating back to the February 27 match at Chattanooga and is now 7-4 in singles competition and 8-4 in doubles play on the season.
The College of Charleston (6-2, 2-0) returns to action on Thursday, March 11 when they host UNC Greensboro (8-2, 2-0) in a battle for first place of the Southern Conference. That match will be played at the CofC Tennis Center in Mt. Pleasant, S.C. with first serve at 3 p.m.
