
Women?s Tennis Plays Three Matches on Home Courts This Weekend

The 67th-ranked Cougars (8-5, 3-0 SoCon) meet the 66th-ranked 49ers (5-3, 1-0 SoCon) who are currently tied for second in the conference on Saturday at 10 a.m. Charleston currently holds a two-match lead in the Southern Conference with a perfect 3-0 record. Greensboro is coming off a tough 4-3 non-conference loss to Charleston Southern on Mar. 10.
Saturday will be United States Tennis Association Day for the women's tennis program. In addition to providing snacks for children in attendance, the team will have an autograph session after the match.
Following Saturday's match, the Cougars will face two opponents on Sunday. At 10 a.m., CofC will play Jacksonville State (6-5) of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Gamecocks are on a six-match win streak after opening the season with five straight losses. They last defeated SIU Edwardsville, 7-0, on Mar. 7 on their home courts.
Sunday afternoon, head coach Angelo Anastopoulo's squad will face No. 36 Oklahoma in a 4 p.m. match that will be videostreamed and available for viewing on www.cofcsports.com. The Sooners are 8-1 on the year with their sole loss coming in the form of a 6-1 defeat to Arkansas. Oklahoma earned a 6-1 victory over Witchita State on Mar. 5 and will be playing its first match in nine days on Sunday.
Following the weekend, the Cougars will play three more home matches before hitting the road for two conference dates.
