
O?Brien, McMahon Compete at Pre Nationals

TERRE HAUTE, IND. - College of Charleston sophomore Dena O'Brien and freshman Hayley McMahon competed Sunday at the highly competitive Pre Nationals meet, hosted by Indiana State on the course which the NCAA Championships are contested in November.
O'Brien broke her 6K school record from last year as she crossed the finish line in 21:37 for 32nd place.
McMahon, racing her first collegiate 6K race ran the course in 25:40.
Colorado won the men's team title with 82 points with Portland scoring 104 for second and edging out Iona who was third with 109 points. Eastern Kentucky and Florida State tied for fourth with 186 points. Florida State ran away with the women's team title with 46 points with Georgetown second at 99, Michigan third with 148 points, Colorado fourth with 160, and Cornell fifth with 161 points.
CofC Head Coach Amy Seago said it was a good experience for her runners.
"The more times you can get exposed to running against elite level competition, the better you are prepared to progress to that level," Seago said. "We look forward to learning from this experience and moving forward."
The Cougars are back in action Oct. 29 as they host the Southern Conference Championships at Trophy Lakes on Johns Island.
