Cross Country to Compete in Southern Showcase Invitational

Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston men's and women's cross country teams return to action Friday, September 18, at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Ala. Hosted by Jacksonville State, the race will take place at John Hunt Park.Â
The Cougars opened the season at the CSU Buccaneer open on Friday, September 4, where both the men's and women's teams earned runner-up finishes. Â
On the men's side, Adrian Miller led Charleston with a personal best 6k time of 19:26.8, shaving more than 23 seconds off his previous best to finish fourth overall. Thomas Flaig and Andrew Catapano joined Miller in the top 10, placing sixth and seventh, respectively. Â
Sofia Day paced the women's side for the Cougars, finishing third overall with a 5k time of 18:10.8. Junior Abby Mogg followed close behind, taking sixth with a personal best 18:18.3. Freshman Callie Rohm rounded out the Cougars' top 10 finishers, placing ninth overall in her collegiate debut.Â
Charleston combined for eight new personal bests across the two races.Â
The Southern Showcase will feature a total of 67 teams across four races, with Charleston competing in both invitational fields. The men's 8k invitational features entries from 31 teams, while 30 teams are entered in the women's 5k invitational.Â
The men's 8k is scheduled to begin at 7:30 am, followed by the women's 5k at 8:20 am. Â
