
Cougars Drop Overtime Contest to Spartans

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Janae Smith scored in double-figures for the 10th time in the last 12 games with 23 points, but the College of Charleston women's basketball team fell 64-76 to UNC-Greensboro Saturday at Fleming Gym.
Smith was not the only Cougar to score in double-figures, as senior guard Tonia Gerty had 13 points to go along with her seven assists. Gerty is currently the all-time leader in assists in CofC history with 441. Gerty now has 1181 points for her career through 116 games.
The Cougars (7-18, 4-12) led 34-26 at the halftime break, but UNCG (13-12, 10-7) came back as they pounded the ball inside with a 36-24 advantage in points in the paint.
In addition to her 23 points, Smith was also a force on the glass as she had 12 rebounds, accounting for her third double-double of the season.
The Cougars return home and will face Wofford on Monday at 7p.m.
