DAVIDSON, N.C. - The College of Charleston women's tennis team blanked Davidson, 7-0, to improve to an undefeated 2-0 in Southern Conference play on Saturday at the Knobloch Tennis Center.
The Cougars (10-7, 2-0) are currently on a three-match win streak and handled the indoor conditions well on the road. It marked the team's fourth shut out of an opponent this season.
CofC took the 1-0 advantage early by sweeping the doubles point versus the Wildcats (4-12, 0-3). Sophomore Christin Newman (Greensboro, N.C.) led the way for the Cougars as they also swept all six singles matches in straight sets with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Alison Rauh at the No. 1 line.
"We played really well indoors and defeated a young, but talented team in Davidson," CofC Director of Tennis Angelo Anastopoulo said. "We look forward to our match at Appalachian State tomorrow."
CofC will close out its two-match SoCon road swing at Appalachian State (6-6, 0-3) on Sunday, March 27, at noon (ET) in Boone, N.C.
