Five Men?s Tennis Players Earn All-Conference Accolades

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – College of Charleston men's tennis placed five members on the 2011 SoCon All-Conference teams, announced by the league on Tuesday morning.
“It's a great honor to be recognized by the conference for a great season,” head coach Jay Bruner said of his team's accolades. “Each player has put in lots of time and commitment to the team this year and they deserve these honors.”
Senior Lukas Koncilia (Tyrol, Austria) was named first-team all-conference in singles for the second straight year. The top-seeded player went 10-9 on the season, including a 6-4 mark in conference. Some of his bigger victories this season came against Furman's Sawyer Duncan and a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set win over Orcun Seyrek of UNC Greensboro, both of which helped CofC to 7-0 shutouts.
Koncilia also earned second-conference accolades in doubles at the No. 1 spot with his partner, sophomore Kyle Parker (Richmond, Va.) The pair went 12-7 on the year, with a 6-4 conference record. It is the second straight all-conference selection for Koncilia in doubles while Parker makes his first appearance on the all-conference team.
Three Cougars were named to the Southern Conference All-Conference Second Team. Leading the pack is junior Mickael Trintignac (Le Cannet, France) who led all Southern Conference players at the No. 2 spot with a 9-1 league record and a 17-3 overall mark. He receives recognition for his distinguished appearance for the second straight year, after earning first-team honors in 2010 and making an appearance on the all-freshman team in 2009.
Junior Tom Delme (Hamoir, Belgium) received second-team honors for the first time in his career. He spent the majority of the season in the No. 3 spot, recording a 9-1 conference mark and finishing the year with a 14-5 overall record, third-best in the Southern Conference behind Trintignac. Delme earned a place on the all-freshman team in 2009.
Rounding out the all-conference second team for the Cougars is sophomore Stephen Hardy (Fairfax, Va.) Hardy is the one of three players to go undefeated in Southern Conference play, registering a 9-0 record at the No. 6 spot for CofC. He is the only player in the conference to remain undefeated in overall competition, winning 12 straight matches as the sixth seed for the Cougars.
Delme and Hardy also earned recognition for their performance in doubles with a spot on the all-conference second team. The duo went 14-6 on the year with an 8-2 mark in conference action, playing primarily at the No. 2 spot for the Cougars. Delme and Hardy closed the regular season with a six-match win streak.
CofC (15-5, 9-1 SoCon) earned back-to-back Southern Conference regular season titles, sharing the title with Elon. As the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament, the Cougars receive a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 7 Wofford vs. No. 10 Davidson on Thursday at 3 p.m. in Chattanooga.
