Cougars Excel at Terrier Relays

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The College of Charleston Women's Track and Field team combined to win three events and set a school record in the 4X200-meter relay Saturday at the Terrier Relays hosted by Wofford.
CofC finished in third-place out of 15 teams in the scored meet with 75 points.
The Cougars got their first victory in the 4X1600-meter relay with a time of 21:04 for the four-mile distance.
In the 400-meter hurdles it was senior Mary Zolga, who set the sixth best time in school history as she won the event in 1:04.96. Teammate Alice Walsh was third in the event with a time of 1:09.81.
Junior Emily Smith set a season-best in the high jump as she cleared five feet, seven inches to claim the victory. Senior Brynne Johnson achieved a career-best in the shot put with a fifth-place finish mark of 10.75 meters.
In the 4X200-meter relay the Cougars finished in third-place as they set a new school record with a time of 1:45.23, breaking the previous mark of 1:46.84, set in 2004.
The Cougars are back in action next Saturday April 9 at the Duke Invitational in Durham, N.C.
