DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Fiona Puyo, who played for the College of Charleston from 2006-09, finished in a tie for 44th at the LPGA's first stage of qualifying school. Puyo finished with a four round total of 293 after shooting rounds of 76-72-73-72 at the LPGA International golf course. She advances to the second stage of qualifying school set for Sept. 27-30 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Fla.
"I am very excited for Fiona," Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "She is one of the most delightful players I have ever coached. If her golf game could match her quick-witted personality, she would be in the golf hall of fame. Fiona has dedicated herself to playing golf professionally and her hard work is beginning to pay off for her. I wish her only the best in her quest for the LPGA tour."
The top 50 players and ties from the first stage of qualifying school advanced to the second stage. The top 70 and ties from the second stage of qualifying school will go to the final stage, being held from Nov. 30 to Dec. 4 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
