JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore high-jumper Julisa Tindall's title-winning 2015 season came to a close on Saturday night with an 18th-place finish at the NCAA Prelims, held at Hodges Stadium on campus at the University of North Florida.
After successfully clearing the bar at the 1.65, 1.70 and 1.75 meter heights, Tindall – who holds a personal best mark of 1.83 meters – struggled on the fourth bar progression, failing to clear 1.79 on three consecutive tries. Despite her valiant efforts, Tindall fell just short of becoming the first Cougar in program history to represent the maroon and white at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Tindall's display in Jacksonville closes the book on what has been a terrific year for the Rock Hill native. After raising her baseline with a second-place finish at the prestigious ECAC Indoor Championships, Tindall then went on to secure top honors at the CAA Track and Field Championships earlier this month. Just a sophomore, the future appears bright for Tindall who remains one of the rising stars in collegiate track and field.
“We are very proud of Julisa,” said CofC Head Coach Amy Seago. “She has enjoyed a phenomenal season. Today, like always, she represented The College with class. And while I know she didn't meet her goal, true to form, she still had a smile on her face. I know that Julisa remains as determined as ever to forge ahead in her pursuit of success. Her positive attitude will help her to continue to achieve great things.”
