Tori Churchill | Women's Cross Country | Sophomore | Greensboro, N.C.
Churchill was a blur this weekend in Mt. Pleasant, where the Cougars hosted the CofC Invitational at Laurel Hill Plantation. The College put up an absolutely dominant team score of 17, just two points off of a perfect score, led by Churchill's time of 22 minutes, 43.6 seconds at the 6K meet. With that time, Churchill becomes the tenth-fastest 6K runner in College of Charleston history, surpassing the time of 22:53.3 set by teammate Kornelia Kostka last season.
William Rainey | Men's Golf | Junior | Charlotte, N.C.
College of Charleston junior William Rainey (Charlotte, N.C.) claimed his first collegiate victory as individual medalist of The Invitational at The Ocean Course (-5) in the team's fall opener on Sept. 11-12 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort on Kiawah Island, S.C. Rainey shot three under-par rounds of 70, 70 and 71 in the 81-player field comprised of golfers from Kentucky, NC State, UAB and Cincinnati to name a few. The Cougars finished runner-up at the tournament behind Rainey's performance at one of the toughest courses in the world, outside of the United Kingdom and Ireland, which is affected as much by the wind. He led the tournament with 44 pars and became only the second CofC player to win the six-year-old tournament next to John Duke Hudson in 2010.
