CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team is ready to ride in its second competition of the fall season at the South Carolina Fall ISHA Show on Oct. 15-16 at Three Fox Farm in Blythewood, S.C.
The Cougars will have 27 team members competing over the course of two days and are coming off a three-way tie for first-place honors at the Georgia Southern Fall IHSA Horse Show on Oct. 1.
"Our team is ready to get back in the arena of competition and compete at the level they know they are capable of," CofC Head Coach Bob Story said. "I'm looking forward to seeing an elite performance out of the team. They learned from the mistakes made at Georgia Southern and are ready to ride."
Junior Hannah Showell (Ocean City, Md.), junior Annie Kuniansky (Atlanta, Ga.), sophomore Sammie Barton (Colbert, Ga.) and freshman Samantha Bledsoe (St. Charles, Ill.) were all blue-ribbon winners at the Georgia Southern Show with Showell earning high point rider and Kuniansky qualifying for regional finals.
CofC currently sits atop the Zone 5, Region 3 team standings in first place with Coastal Carolina and Converse College (31 points) followed by Georgia Southern (27 points), South Carolina (23 points), Clemson (19 points), Furman (10 points), Wofford (6 points), USC Aiken (5 points), Wesleyan College (4 points) and Lander (4 points).
