BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. - The College of Charleston equestrian team rode to a second-place finish on the second day of South Carolina's doubleheader IHSA Horse Show at Three Fox Farm.
Clemson won the day with 39 points followed by CofC, host South Carolina and Georgia Southern each with 35 points.
"We competed in 17 classes, before we got our first win on Sunday," CofC Head Coach Bob Story said. "Once again, the team rode great without being pinned well. We kept it close and had an outside shot of winning, but a lot of things were going to have to happen in the last 3-or-4 classes. Even with the second-place finish, we did increase our overall lead in the regional standings."
Freshman Elif Caynak got the short winning streak going when she won Walk/Trot (Section B) followed by freshman Samantha Bledsoe (St. Charles, Ill.) and freshman Ruby Gonzales each winning their sections of Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter.
The Cougars will compete this upcoming weekend at the Clemson Show on Sunday, Oct. 23 at Garrison Arena in Pendleton, S.C.
