BROOKLET, Ga. – The College of Charleston equestrian team finished in a three-way tie for high point college at the Georgia Southern Fall IHSA Horse Show held on Saturday at Evermore Farm.
The College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina and Converse College each finished with 31 points.
Junior Hannah Showell (Ocean City, Md.) started the day placing second in Open Fences and followed that with a win in Open Flat (Section B). The team earned no points in Novice Fences or Intermediate Fences.
Junior Annie Kuniansky (Atlanta, Ga.) won Intermediate Flat, while sophomore Sammie Barton (Colbert, Ga.) and freshman Samantha Bledsoe (St. Charles, Ill.) each won their sections of Advanced Walk, Trot, Canter.
"It was amazing that behind three firsts and two seconds on the point chart, we were able to be tied for first," CofC Head Coach Bob Story said. "Simple mistakes in three classes resulted in three zeroes on the point card. Those problems will be addressed before our next doubleheader at USC."
Showell was the high point rider. Kuniansky qualified for Region Finals in Intermediate Flat and junior Christina Hayden (Edina, Minn.) qualified for Novice Flat.
The Cougars will next compete at the South Carolina Show on Oct. 15-16 at Three Fox Farm in Blythewood, S.C.
