CHARLESTON, S.C. – Riding the momentum of an historic win Wednesday, the College of Charleston wome's basketball team (1-1) will try and emerge victorious in a tough road contest with (RV)/(RV) N.C. State (2-0) on Saturday at 6 p.m.
The Cougars pulled off a huge 95-64 road win against the Winthrop Eagles in a game where the Cougars took the lead right away, and never relinquished it. Breanna Bolden moved up to No. 20 on CofC's all-time scoring list with a 20 point, 6 steal effort, while Tanisha Brown recorded her second straight double-double (20-10) in as many games played with the Cougars, while adding five steals of her own. Darien Huff scored a career-high 19 points, five assists and two blocks, and Dajah Logan rounded things out with an 11-8 performance.
Thanks to the win, the College recorded its second-highest FGM total (38) and its fourth-highest point-total (95) in its Division I era. Through two games, the Cougars have averaged a jaw-dropping 17.5 steals per game.
CofC will meet the Wolfpack for just the third time in program history, with N.C. State controlling the 2-0 advantage. The last time the two teams played in 2010, N.C. State held the Cougars without a double-digit scorer, pulling away for the 73-36 win.
Through two games, N.C. State is undefeated on the season with wins against Wofford (80-40) and Hampton (81-56). Dominique Wilson was the star for the Wolfpack against Hampton, recording a 23-3 with three steals and a block. The win against Wofford was more of a team-effort, with 12 players scoring points and nobody logging more than 13 for the game. N.C. State comes off a 20-11 season last year in the midst of a tough ACC schedule.
The teams will tip off at Reynolds Coliseum in Raleigh, N.C.
