CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (2-4) begins its longest non-conference road-trip of the season this Sunday, when the Cougars travel to Hofheinz Pavilion to do battle with Houston (2-4) at 3 p.m. EST.
CofC comes off a 60-47 home-loss to North Florida last Wednesday. Tanisha Brown recorded a 13-10 double-double, her fourth double-double of the season, while Baileigh Larson recorded a career-high 11 points and five rebounds. However, the Cougars couldn't score a basket from long-range, going 0 of 15 from beyond the arc, which allowed UNF to seize the win.
The Cougar-on-Cougar clash between the College and Houston has only occurred one other time in history, last season at TD Arena in CofC's home-opener. Breanna Bolden led the way with a 19-6-4 with two steals, Darien Huff recorded 11 points, and the College prevailed 55-48.
Houston comes off a 6-24 season in 2015-16, during which they went 2-16 against American Conference foes. So far this year, they've gone 2-4 on the season, winning their home-opener against Southeastern Louisiana 83-80 before losing their next four straight. They come fresh off a victory, haven gone on the road to vanquish UTRGV 68-52. UH is led by Serithia Hawkins, who averages a 8-10 and three steals per game. Angela Harris is a factor as well, coming off the bench to provide the squad with a team-high 12.5 PPG.
Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. EST, 2 p.m. central time.
