
CofC Equestrian Takes Win at Clemson Show

PENDLETON, S.C. – The College of Charleston equestrian team took an early lead and never looked back at the Clemson University IHSA horse show on Saturday at T. Ed Garrison Arena in Pendleton, S.C. The Cougars maintained their momentum and held the lead throughout the day. The team worked together to widen their lead to 35 points over Georgia Southern in the regional standings with just one show remaining.
The Cougars started the day off with a win in the open flat by senior Victoria Bauer. Freshman Shannon Rice won the first section of the intermediate flat. Sophomore Jackie Lundsted won the second section of the novice flat. Freshman Emma Bernstein won the first section of the advanced walk, trot, canter. Sophomore Madison King won the third section of advanced walk, trot, canter.
Charleston clinched the victory with 41 points. Second was USC with 27 points. Senior Easton Veremis qualified for regionals in intermediate over fences and senior Rachel Hyland qualified for regionals in the novice flat. Senior Victoria Bauer was the high-point rider of the day, qualified for regionals in the open over fences, and secured her spot as the Zone 5, Region 3 Cacchione Cup representative.
College of Charleston will show next at the home show on Johns Island on March 5.
