CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's tennis team has received its draw, and will face the No. 2 overall seeded North Carolina in the first round of the NCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship tournament on Saturday, May 14 at noon.
The match will be played at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center, where UNC will host first and second round matches of the 64-team NCAA Championship tournament.
The Cougars earned a bid to the NCAA tournament after securing their first Colonial Athletic Association championship back on April 24. They defeated No. 67 ranked UNCW, 4-3, to clinch their bid. Charleston's record now stands at 19-6, and they are riding a seven game winning streak heading into the NCAA tournament.
North Carolina is currently ranked No. 3 in the nation, and own a record of 25-4 in 2016. The College will have its hands full, as the Tar Heels have advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals in each of the last two seasons.
The first round match between Dartmouth and Tulane will also take place at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis center in May 14, starting at 9 a.m. The winners of each of the first round matches will then face off on Sunday, May 15 at 1 p.m. for a spot in the Sweet 16.
