Cougars Gain Ground After Lightning Delay at CSU Fall Invitational

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. – A three-hour lightning delay halted tournament play in the second round for the College of Charleston women's golf team and the rest of the nine-team field at the CSU Fall Invitational held on Monday at the Rivertowne Country Club.
The Cougars, who are currently in second at +3, have 3-6 holes remaining as play continues tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. (ET) and the final round played immediately thereafter to crown the team and individual champion.
They look to charge up the leaderboard behind the play of graduate senior Mary Fran Hillow (Orlando, Fla.), who is currently third individually at 1-under par. Senior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany) is tied for fourth shooting even par thus far.
Georgia Southern leads the field at 2-under par, while host Charleston Southern is one stroke back of the Cougars (+4) in third. CofC made up nine shots on Georgia Southern in a five-hole span after the rain delay.
"We made up a great deal of ground after the lightning delay,
CofC Head Coach Jamie Futrell said. "The team did a great job of refocusing after having to sit around almost three hours because of the delay. We look forward to a great shootout with Georgia Southern and Charleston Southern tomorrow."
