IHSA Fall Classic A Success As Cougars Ride To Championship On Final Day Of Show

CLEMSON, S.C. – The IHSA Fall Classic was a success for the College of Charleston equestrian team as the Cougars rode to a High Point Team Championship on the final day of the two-day show hosted by Clemson over the weekend at the Clemson Equine Center.
DAY ONE RECAP
South Carolina won Day One of the Fall Classic (40 points) followed by CofC and Coastal Carolina (35 points) in second.
"We battled with USC all day for the win, but came up short at the end," CofC Head Coach Bob Story said. "The team rode great and stayed focused on the job at hand."
Class winners for the Cougars were freshman Beverly Davis in Intermediate Fences (Section B), sophomore Gabrielle Bernier in Novice Flat (Section A), junior Sophia Meserve in Novice Fences (Section C), junior Jenna McIntosh in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter (Section B) and sophomore Elizabeth High in Walk/Trot (Section A).

DAY TWO RECAP
On the second day of competition, the Cougars (41 points) rode to the High Point Team Championship with a one-point victory over second-place South Carolina (40 points).
"I've been waiting for this team to show up all semester," Story said. "The team rode some difficult draws well and just stayed focused throughout the day. It was a true group effort by the whole team to secure the win."
CofC had seven riders win their class including freshman Allison Bergmeyer in Intermediate Flat (Section A), freshman Beverly Davis in Intermediate Fences (Section A), junior Sammie Barton in Novice Fences (Section B), junior Sophia Meserve in Novice Fences (Section C), junior Hannah Bentz in Novice Flat (Section B), sophomore Molly Coyle in Novice Flat (Section C) and sophomore Elizabeth High in Walk/Trot (Section B).
