CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove is up next for the College of Charleston men's golf team on Oct. 8-10 at The Grove Club in College Grove, Tenn.
The 12-team tournament is hosted by Middle Tennessee and includes CofC, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kennesaw State, Liberty, Louisiana, Memphis, Ole Miss, South Dakota State, South Florida and Troy.
The Cougars will start sophomore Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.), sophomore Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), sophomore Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.), sophomore Jake Budde (Austin, Texas) and freshman Raphael Geissler (Karlsruhe, Germany).
"The team looks forward to getting back into action this week in Nashville," CofC Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We played well here last year and hope to do it again this year. We will be playing a different lineup from our first tournament of the year. Mike Sass, Logan Sowell and Hunter Dunagan all played here last year and we will be depending on their experience to help us this week. Rounding out the group will be Jake Budde and Raphael Geissler."
The par-72 Greg Norman-designed course will play at 7,368 yards. Ole Miss is the defending tournament champion, while CofC placed third in last year's edition of the tournament.
"The most important thing for us this week is course management," McEntire said. "We have worked really hard on that this week as par will be an excellent score."
The tournament format will be 54 holes of stroke play with 18 holes played on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com.
