CHARLESTON, S.C – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (1-3) will face off with the Campbell Camels (2-1) on the familiar court of TD Arena this Wednesday in Charleston, SC with a 6:30 p.m. game time.
Earlier in November, the Cougars split their opening weekend with both a win and a loss. The Cougars are coming off a weekend spent in the Great Lakes State, where they were defeated by both Central Michigan (79-58) and Michigan State (107-43). Junior guard Darien Huff played a solid set of games despite the losses, pouring in a team-high 14 Pts against Central Michigan and setting a career-high against Michigan State with six rebounds. Throughout the season, Huff is averaging 12.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, while shooting 40.9% from long range.
The Cougars and Camels will match up for the first time following their TAAC conference participation in 1998. Overall, the Camels have the narrow 10-7 edge on record, with their last encounter resulting in a 63-47 win for Campbell in a game played in the Lowcountry.
The Fighting Camels started out their season strong with two victories and only one loss, dominating both William Peace (94-42) and USC Upstate (69-49). Sophomore Taya Bolden has directed the ball in both games with back-to-back double digit rebounds, while Senior Makala Rouse, former Big South Defensive Player of the Year, achieved a game-high of five assists against USC Upstate.
