Women’s Hoops Close Out November at Coastal Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (1-5) is set to battle Coastal Carolina (3-3) in Conway, SC this Thursday, November 30 at 6 p.m.
The Thanksgiving week has added two close losses to the Cougar's record, one against Campbell (53-45) and the other Appalachian State (76-70), each played on their home court in Charleston, SC. Both matches were led by senior Tanisha Brown, reaching double digits against the Camels and a pulling down 19-16 double-double against the Mountaineers. Brown's 16 rebounds established a rebounding career high, and she added four blocks and three steals during the week. She is currently averaging 14.5 points with 7 rebounds.
The Chanticleers and Cougars have faced off many times before with an extensive history dating back to 1975. The College of Charleston has the upper hand in the series, posting a 34-13 record against Coastal. The two teams last saw each other in a game on the Cougar's home court in December of 2016 which resulted in a minor loss of 79-72 for CofC. Charleston and Coastal fought through 12 lead changes, but CCU sealed the game by outscoring Charleston 15-5 in the final 1:49.
Coming off a 13-16 record in the 2016-17 season, Coastal Carolina has split their past six games with a 3-3 record. They saw their most recent loses to North Texas (50-34) and Nebraska (55-47) in the San Juan Shootout. Senior guard Jas Adams scored a career high of 28 points against Nebraska while sophomore DJ Williams accounted for 11 of the team's points. Jas Adams is currently leading the Chanticleers, averaging 19 points per game, scoring double digits in all six of the season's games.
