
Cougar Quartet Looks To Take Singlehanded Nationals By Storm

MT PLEASANT, S.C. --- The College of Charleston sailing team is on the road for a pair of events this weekend, with the Cougars' top solo sailors traveling to ICSA Men's and Women's Singlehanded Nationals in St. Petersburg, Fla., and the offshore team heading to Annapolis, Md. for the Kennedy Cup. Both events will be contested over two days on Saturday and Sunday, November 4 and 5.
Gerald Williams (Sai Kung, Hong Kong, China) and Stefano Peschiera (Lima, Peru) return to singlehanded nationals for the second straight year after finishing second and fourth, respectively, at last fall's event. Peschiera dominated the SAISA Men's Singlehanded in September, while Gerald Williams placed second. Kelly-Ann Arrindell (Port-of-Spain, Trinidad) topped the standings at the women's event the following weekend to qualify for women's singlehanded nationals, with freshman Marian Williams (Sai Kung, Hong Kong, China) placed second in her collegiate debut.
The Cougars will also compete for the Kennedy Cup in Annapolis, Md. Representing the College will be: William Comerford (Annapolis, Md.), Will Hundahl (Marblehead, Mass.), Sam Tobio (Sarasota, Fla.), Sarah Wilkinson (Mystic, Conn.), Emily Essi (Cleveland, Ohio), Julia Lines (Southampton, Bermuda), Keenan Hilsinger (Brooklin, Maine), Burke Anvari (Westport, Conn.), and David Furst (New York, N.Y.).
