
Runner-Up Finish For Cougars, Fuenfstueck at CAA Championship

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The College of Charleston women's golf team and senior Laura Fuenfstueck (Langen, Germany) finished runner-up at the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship held Sunday at the par-72 Blue Heron Course at Ford's Colony Country Club.
The Cougars carded a three-round score of 296-308-303—907 (+43), while Delaware (+32) won its second-straight conference tournament title and the league's automatic NCAA berth. UNCW was third (+44), James Madison fourth (+51), Towson fifth (+60), William & Mary sixth (+67), Elon seventh (+73) and Hofstra eighth (+140).
It marked CofC's fifth Top-5 finish and third runner-up or better finish of the season.
Fuenfstueck was the Cougars' top finisher shooting a final-round, even-par 72 and finished 1-over par for the tournament – one stroke short of individual medalist honors claimed by Lyberty Anderson of UNCW (E). She was honored on the CAA All-Tournament Team for the third time of her career along with junior Josefine Garton (Linkoping, Sweden), who tied for fourth (+7) in her first CAA Tournament appearance.
Senior Vici Drechsler (Munich, Germany) tied for 17th (+16), graduate senior Mary Fran Hillow (Orlando, Fla.) placed 22nd (+19) and freshman Victoria Huskey (Greenville, S.C.) tied for 29th (+25).
