Cougars Split With Jacksonville, North Florida On Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The College of Charleston beach volleyball team split a pair of duals on Saturday, as the Cougars defeated Jacksonville, 4-1, before falling to North Florida, 3-2, at the Dolphin Invitational.
With the split, College of Charleston moves to 9-5 for the season, while Jacksonville and North Florida now own overall records of 5-15, and 9-11, respectively.
Against Jacksonville, McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) and Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) recorded a 21-14, 21-12 victory in the second flight for the Cougars' first point. Riana Brennan (Los Gatos, Calif.) and Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) claimed an easy 21-10, 21-7 win in the third flight, while Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) and Taylor Foley (Agoura Hills, Calif.) won 21-18, 21-9 at No. 4. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) and Lauren Hollman (Union, Ky.) registered a 21-9, 16-21, 15-8 win in the fifth flight.
Rhodes and Mummey posted their second win of the day in the second flight against North Florida with a 22-20, 11-21, 15-9 decision. Freed and Foley recorded the Cougars' second point in the fourth flight with a 21-18, 23-21 victory.
The Cougars will wrap up the weekend at the Dolphin Invitational with the pairs tournament on Sunday in Jacksonville, Fla.
