
The College Splits With Incarnate Word, Washington State Friday

PULLMAN, Wash. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team split a pair of three-set matches on Friday, sweeping Incarnate Word before falling to No. 28 Washington State in straight sets in the evening session.
College of Charleston (5-2) defeated Incarnate Word (1-2) by scores of 25-14, 25-,16, and 25-23; the Cougars fell to Washington State (5-1) by scores of 21-25, 22-25, and 12-25 to finish the night.
Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) and Krissy Mummey (Hudson, Ohio) paced the offense with 16 kills each, as Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) added 13 smashes of her own. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out 52 assists, while McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) totaled 24 digs to surpass the 1,000-dig plateau for her career.
The Cougars tallied 37 kills, nine blocks, and six service aces in their sweep of Incarnate Word while holding the Cardinals to 32 kills, 38 digs, and a .094 hitting percentage. Madison led the way with 10 kills, four blocks, and a .421 hitting percentage, while Mummey added nine kills, four blocks, and a .500 attacking clip. Rhodes paced the defense with 16 digs, as Beckman dished out 28 assists.
In the evening match, Charleston recorded 38 kills, 32 digs, and a .082 hitting percentage, while Washington State tallied 39 kills, 11 blocks, and a .329 attacking clip. Rachel paced the Cougars with 13 kills, six digs, and a .323 hitting percentage, as Mummey added seven kills. Jane Feddersen (Leesburg, Va.) recorded a team-high four blocks, while Beckman posted 24 assists and six digs.
The Cougars will close out the weekend with a 1:00 pm matchup against Baylor (RV) on Saturday afternoon on the Washington State campus.
