CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-10, 1-3) heads north this weekend, and will play a pair of road contests against Northeastern (7-8, 2-2) and Hofstra (8-7, 2-2).
The Cougars face the Huskies on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Cabot Center, and follow that up with a 2 p.m. Sunday showdown with the Pride in the David S. Mack Complex. Both games will have video streams for those wishing to view the action.
The College comes off a close loss at home to the Delaware Blue Hens on Sunday, where they hosted former CofC head coach Natasha Adair for the first time since she departed in 2014. The Cougars had a strong start to the game that included a 14-6 run in the opening minutes, and Tanisha Brown, Shiclasia Brown and Bri Sullivan all scored in double-digits. But a late push from Delaware allowed UD to escape with the 68-59 win.
The Cougars face the Huskies for the first time this season, but played the Pride just last week in TD Arena to a 75-60 defeat. CofC is 3-5 all-time against Northeastern and 3-6 in games against Hofstra.
Northeastern currently stands at 2-2 in conference play with wins over UNCW and Towson to start things off. The team is just 2-3 at home this season, and they have not won in the Cabot Center since November. The Huskies have five players who average double-digit scoring on the roster. Jess Genco is one of the premier playmakers in the CAA, as the junior guard leads the team in scoring (14.4 PPG), assists (6.1 APG), steals (1.6 SPG) and minutes (39.1 MPG).
Hofstra followed their win over the Cougars last Friday with a 69-61 win at UNCW on Sunday that saw Boogie Brozoski log a 18-6-3 with two steals. Senior forward Ashunae Durant does a little of everything for the Pride, averaging a 12-8 with over a steal and a block per game. Sunday will be the Pride's first game at home since their conference-opener against James Madison on Dec. 29.
