CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston track & field program is set to compete in its second indoor meet of the season this weekend, when it will head to Boone, N.C. to compete in the Appalachian Open.
The Cougars will be one of six Division I programs in attendance, and will compete against the likes of Winthrop, USC Upstate, Campbell, Gardner-Webb and Appalachian State.
It will be the Cougars' first competition in six weeks, when the College competed at the JDL College Kickoff Classic in Winston-Salem. Simone Harris performed admirably for the CofC in that meet, advancing to No. 3 in school history with PRs in both the shot put and the weight throw.
Friday will be a light day of competition, featuring only the triple jump, weight throw and 5000m in the evening beginning at 5 p.m. The majority of events take place on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m. with the high jump, shot put and 55m hurdles.
