CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (5-13, 1-6) went down early and never recovered on Friday night, falling 67-45 at home to James Madison (10-7, 6-0).
• The Cougars struggled out the gate, being forced into seven first-quarter turnovers and missing all 12 of their field goal attempts. The slow start allowed JMU to capitalize with a 13-4 lead at the end, and by half the Dukes led it by a score of 39-20. The College was able to take it to the Dukes in the second half, but couldn't pull closer than 19.
• Cailin Dorsey sunk a career-high 11 points on her hometown game, going 3 of 6 from long range. Deja Ford was the high scorer for the Cougars with 13, hitting all five of her free throw attempts.
• CofC was outrebounded 48-40, and was out-gunned from the field as the result of a 28.3% shooting night. James Madison separated themselves with the play of their reserves, as JMU's bench outscored CofC 32-0.
The College will look to bounce back on Sunday for their CofC Women's Basketball Alumni Game when they host Towson at 2 p.m.
