
Equestrians Ready To Get Back Into Show Ring at Clemson

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Two days of competition are ahead for the College of Charleston equestrian team at the Clemson IHSA Show to be held on Oct. 13-14 at the Clemson Equine Center in Clemson, S.C.
On Day One, junior Elizabeth High (Georgetown, S.C.), sophomore Lauren Duffy (Alexandria, Va.), sophomore Allyson Pace (Charlotte, N.C.) and senior Sammie Barton (Colbert, Ga.) will compete in individual Beginner Walk/Trot/Canter, Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter, Novice Flat and Novice Fences respectively.
Point riders in team competition will be junior Elif Caynak (Fort Mill, S.C.) in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter and sophomore McKenna Grierson (Laguna Beach, Calif.) in the Novice Flat and Novice Fences classes.
"We are excited to get back in the show ring as we head to Clemson this weekend," CofC Head Coach Natasha V. McCarthy said. "We have been practicing hard since Georgia Southern and are ready to take this weekend on."
On Day Two, freshman Morgan Hazeltine (Hingham, Mass.), junior Alyson Bushey (Beaufort, S.C.), sophomore Arianna Cacioppo (New York, N.Y.), Pace and Barton will compete in their respective individual events, while Caynak and Grierson point riders again in the team events.
In the team's season opener at the Georgia Southern Show on Sept. 30, Caynak and Duffy both won their class in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter. Last year, CofC placed second on Day One and first on Day Two at Clemson.
