BROOKLET, Ga. – The College of Charleston equestrian team started off its Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) season with two class winners at the Georgia Southern Fall Show held at Evermore Farm on Sunday.
Junior Elif Caynak (Fort Mill, S.C.) and sophomore Lauren Duffy (Alexandria, Va.) both won their class in Advanced Walk/Trot/Canter. It marked Duffy's first IHSA win of her career.
"This past weekend, we rode a few new freshmen that really stepped up to the challenge," CofC Head Coach Natasha V. McCarthy said. "Although the team did not finish with either a first-or-second-place finish, overall the quality of the riding was superb and the team atmosphere among the entire travel roster was outstanding. The enthusiasm for this year's equestrian team is off-the-charts and we are looking forward to good times ahead."
CofC will next compete at the two-day Clemson Show on Oct. 13-14 at the Clemson Equine Center in Clemson, S.C.
