CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team travels to the Intercollegiate at The Grove sponsored by T3 and Shane McFarland Construction on Oct. 7-9 at The Grove Club in College Grove, Tenn.
The tournament format will be 54 holes of stroke play on the par-72, 7,368-yard course. This year's field includes host Middle Tennessee, CofC, Cincinnati, Kennesaw State, Kentucky, Liberty, Louisiana Tech, Louisville, Memphis, Ole Miss, Purdue, South Dakota State and South Florida.
The Cougars' starting five for the tournament will be junior Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.), junior Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.), junior Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), junior Christian Baliker (Greenville, S.C.) and sophomore Raphael Geissler (Karlsruhe, Germany).
Dunagan currently leads the team with a career single-season best 69.40 stroke average and shot 10-under par to tie for third in his second start of the season at the Trinity Forest Invitational on Sept. 25 in Dallas, Texas.
"As a team, we have stayed extremely competitive throughout our time back on campus," CofC Head Coach Mitch Krywulycz said. "Our men have experience at The Grove from last season and we will look to continue our solid early season form. We have worked diligently on our short game and both Coach (Alex) Ellis and I look forward to watching our team compete with added confidence around The Grove's challenging green complexes. The growth I witnessed in our team's scoring depth at Trinity Forest should serve us well in a field of this quality."
Last year, Charleston tied for sixth at the event and looks to improve on that finish in the 2018 edition of the tournament. They are coming off back-to-back Top 5 team finishes at The Invitational at The Ocean Course (1st) and Trinity Forest Invitational (3rd).
The Cougars will be paired with Louisville in tomorrow's opening round and tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 10:24 a.m. (CT) / 11:24 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com
