CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's golf team will close out the fall season at the CSU East Bay Deli Classic hosted by Charleston Southern on Nov. 4-6 at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort's Turtle Point course on Kiawah Island, S.C.
Aside from the two Lowcountry schools, the 21-team field is comprised of Appalachian State, Augusta, Florida Atlantic, Francis Marion, Gardner-Webb, Hampton, High Point, Jacksonville State, Loyola Maryland, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Presbyterian, Radford, Tennessee Tech, Troy, USC Upstate, Western Carolina, William & Mary and Winthrop.
The Cougars, who have made three Top-10 team finishes this fall including two in the Top 5, will start junior Michael Sass (Louisville, Ky.), junior Christian Baliker (Greenville, S.C.), junior Logan Sowell (Kershaw, S.C.), junior Hunter Dunagan (Augusta, Ga.) and sophomore Raphael Geissler (Karlsruhe, Germany). Junior Jake Budde (Austin, Texas) and sophomore Patrick Golden (Murrells Inlet, S.C.) will compete as individuals.
"We are excited to get back into competition after a month since our last event," CofC Head Coach Mitch Krywulycz said. "The break gave us time to evaluate our program and work with our student-athletes on an individual basis. From a preparation standpoint, I believe this is the most prepared we have been and I look forward to a quality performance. Playing another quality course in the Lowcountry will both test us and prove as another opportunity to evaluate our team moving into the winter break."
The par-72 course will play at a distance of 6,911 yards. Last year, CofC placed fourth in a 15-team field.
The Cougars will be paired in tomorrow's first round with Augusta, Jacksonville State and FAU and tee-off the No. 1 beginning at 9:10 a.m. (ET). Live tournament scoring will be available at: www.Golfstat.com.
