Cougars Finish Fall Slate With Ten Wins at CofC Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's tennis team finished out the fall schedule with the CofC Classic, picking up ten wins over the weekend with Eva Nyikos and Anastasia Palaska finishing undefeated in doubles action.
Nyikos and Palaska opened play on Saturday with a 6-4 victory over Coastal Carolina, with Lily LaBiche and Clara Errard also picking up a 6-3 win. In singles action against the Chanticleers, LaBiche took a 7-6 (5), 6-1, win in the second match of the day.
Against a mix of Marshall and Winthrop student-athletes, Nyikos and Palaska again teamed up in doubles action for a 6-1 victory with Nyikos also winning in singles action 6-1, 6-3.
The Cougars saved their best tennis for their matchup against Samford. Nyikos and Palaska opening with a 7-6 (4) victory over De Ugarto and Pool in doubles play before Charleston took five singles wins. Nyikos, Turner Yates and Catalina Medici defeated Jennings, Beltrane and Lewis in straight sets with LaBiche and Palaska picking up three set victories over De Ugarto and Pool.
As a team, the Cougars finished with ten wins over the two days with head coach Angelo Anastapoulo and his team now looking to the spring slate.
