ELON, N.C. – The College of Charleston women's basketball team (6-19, 2-12) fell on the road to the Elon Phoenix (17-7, 9-4) on Sunday in Alumni Gym by a score of 97-44.
• The Cougars took an early 5-2 lead thanks to a three from Cailin Dorsey and a follow-up basket from Tanisha Brown. However, CofC fell into a seven-minute-long scoring slump, allowing Elon to take advantage.
• The Phoenix won all four quarters by double-digit scoring, and won most categories. Of most significance, CofC were outshot 56% to 26% from the field, and were outrebounded 54-34.
• Shiclasia Brown and Deja Ford both reached double-digits with 12 and 16 points respectively. Brown's 23 field goal attempts were tied for the fifth-most in a single game in the CofC Division I Era. Dee Heath scored all six of the Cougars bench points in the game, setting a new career-high.
• The Cougars remain in ninth place in the CAA despite the loss. Elon remains in third place in conference play, two games back of Drexel (19-6, 11-2).
CofC returns to action next Sunday when they visit the Delaware Blue Hens.
